10th International Scientific Conference for Researchers of Civil Society

"The Impact of the Crisis on the Development of the Nonprofit Sector and Social Self-Organization: New Realities and Perspectives 2021"

The conference is organized by the Centre for Studies of Civil Society and the Non-Profit Sector of the NRU Higher School of Economics together with the Association European University of Volunteering (EUV) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV).

The main goal of the conference is to strengthen cooperation between representatives of various schools of scholarly thought and to provide the participants with a chance to review scientific achievements and share their experience.

The issues to be discussed include the results of research on the development of civil society and non-profit sector and the changes brought about by the COVID-19 crisis; prospects for the development of civil self-organization (volunteering, charity, responsible consumption, participation in non-profit organizations etc.); past experience of nonprofit and community organizations’ reacting to major crises. The conference will cover a wide range of issues related to the impact of a global crisis on the non-profit sector.

The conference program will also include a number of English-language sessions on topics suggested by the partner organizations:

  • Role of Volunteering for Resilient Recovery in the Corona-Pandemic.
  • Civil Society and Welfare State: Volunteer's Contribution.
  • New Social Contract: Building More Inclusive State-Society Relations through Volunteerism.

Scholars and practicians interested in these topics are invited to participate. We also welcome young researchers, graduate students, representatives of the nonprofit sector and government officials. The Organizational Committee will consider submissions for additional break-out sessions.

The languages of the conference are Russian and English.
