Call for Applications: 14th International Summer School on ’Emerging Trends in Public Self-Organization and Civil Society: Perspectives from Russia and Beyond’

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 14th Summer School titled ’Emerging Trends in Public Self-Organization and Civil Society: Perspectives from Russia and Beyond’ which will be held in Moscow from June 23 to June 25, 2025. This unique event, organized by the Centrе for Studies of Civil Society and Nonprofit Sector  at the HSE University, offers researchers, students, graduate students (with no age restrictions), and practitioners an opportunity to exchange ideas and insights in the fields of self-organization, philanthropy, volunteerism, NGOs, and their interaction with the state.  

The Summer School provides an exceptional platform for sharing experiences, establishing professional networks, and fostering international collaboration.  

The event will serve as a venue for discussing key challenges and trends in civil society, as well as for developing long-term research projects. Participation in the School is an opportunity to join an international academic community, gain new knowledge, and find inspiration for future research.  

The Summer School will take place at the following address: Moscow, Myasnitskaya Street, 11, Conference Hall 518. For participants from other cities, free accommodation in a hotel will be available (limited number of rooms). Travel expenses to and from Moscow are to be covered by participants or their sponsoring institutions. No participation fee is required.
